Okay, so we know SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization. Most people have a general idea of what SEO is, but few know exactly how it's done (or how it's done well!) So we thought putting it in these terms: Savvy, Effective, and Ongoing might help to explain the process a little better. So here we go...
Savvy: There are plenty of opinions out there on hiring an expert to do your SEO. In tough economic times, the thought of doing it yourself may even have crossed your mind. But don't kid yourself. SEO is an in-depth process and whoever you have doing it for you needs to be pretty savvy at it! Of course, you could spend your precious time learning the ropes but my guess is you have more important things to do! Don't be fooled by someone offering just SEO services either. Remember, effective online marketing is a multi-channel process.
Effective: When done well, SEO is absolutely effective in driving more traffic to your site. The fact that "googled" has become a common-place verb in today's society should tell you something! If you think you can't benefit from SEO efforts you are fooling yourself. Showing up in search engines is not only beneficial to a company, it's becoming more and more vital. Customers are out there looking for you...so you better make sure you can be found!
Ongoing: Plain and simple, SEO takes time. It requires an ongoing and continuous effort to truly be effective. Don't expect to show up on page one of Google your first week into doing SEO. But with concentrated efforts over a period of time, it can be done! Patience might be the name of the game, but like they say, all good things come in time.
